Building with Deep Roots – Villa Modda in the Val di Noto
Villa Modda, one of our most remarkable projects, embodies this philosophy. Nestled in the countryside of the Val di Noto, the villa is named after a wild native plant, a symbol of its deep connection to the surrounding rural landscape. The architectural intervention began with the restoration of an old agricultural ruin, transformed into a refined, functional residence where memory and modern design coexist in harmony.
The villa is structured around a pedestrian axis that separates the social areas — overlooking the pool and featuring outdoor living and dining spaces — from the more private zones with bedrooms and service rooms. A circular concrete platform marks the original drying area, now reimagined as a focal point from which the entire spatial experience unfolds.
The original stone structure, built with rough blocks of Noto stone, is embraced by a new extension clad in brown cocciopesto, echoing the colors of the earth and the fruits of the countryside, such as carob. The natural textures, the interplay of light and shadow, and the glazed yellow terracotta tiles covering the central core of the living area all contribute to a design that integrates seamlessly with its landscape.
The infinity pool, lined with emerald green ceramic mosaic, blends effortlessly with the hilly profile and earthy tones of the surroundings. Custom iron louvers allow for natural light and ventilation control, turning the villa into a living organism that can open up or retreat, depending on the season or mood.
Featured on the cover of Elle Decor Italia, Villa Modda stands as a testament to our way of building — with passion, precision, and speed. The success of this project is the result of the exceptional work of our team of builders, architects, engineers, and surveyors. Thanks to their skill and dedication, every stage of construction was carried out with care and completed in record time, while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
